Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas (BGCSCK). Volunteers play a vital role in advancing our mission by strengthening programs, supporting operations, and expanding our impact across the communities we serve.
By contributing your time, talents, and expertise, you help create safe, welcoming, and enriching environments where young people can learn, grow, and thrive.
Individual Opportunities
Individual volunteers work directly with youth and have recurring contact with members - defined as more than one interaction within 180 days. This opportunity is ideal for those who are passionate about mentoring, education, or youth development.
What You’ll Do:
- Support academic success through tutoring or homework help
- Engage with members during after-school programs
- Provide encouragement, guidance, and positive role modeling
Commitment:
- Minimum of one hour per week
- Consistent schedule (same day and time each week/month)
Process:
To ensure the safety and well-being of our members, all individual volunteers must complete the following steps prior to working with youth:
- Inquiry
- Application
- Interview
- Reference Checks
- Background Check ($20 fee)
- Orientation & 2–4 hours of required safety training
All volunteers must pass national criminal and misdemeanor background checks, as well as a national sex offender registry screening.

Group Opportunities
Group volunteer opportunities are perfect for companies, organizations, schools, and community groups looking to make an impact together.
Ways Your Group Can Help:
- Complete service projects (e.g., painting, organizing, facility improvements)
- Support one-time member activities
- Participate in donation drives or wish list collections
- Assist with special events or seasonal initiatives (e.g., Holiday Giving Tree)
Details:
- Ideal for one-time or short-term engagement
- Minimum of three weeks’ advance notice required for scheduling
