Our Mission

SY 2026–2027 Enrollment is now OPEN!
To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
BE GREAT is an idea that within every child there is the potential for greatness, and all of us play a vital role in helping young people find and achieve their dreams. Boys & Girls Clubs encourage all kids to BE GREAT by nurturing their self-esteem through instilling in them a sense of belonging, competence, power and influence, and usefulness.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas do this daily by providing young people with caring adult professionals and fun, age-appropriate, well-rounded programming. The Club has been giving kids a better chance against problems such as gangs, street violence, and juvenile crime since 1990.
The first Boys & Girls Club in Wichita opened in Oaklawn in 1990 through a partnership among the founding Board of Directors, United Way of the Plains, Derby and Wichita Public Schools, and several local businesses. What began as a single Club has grown into an organization serving youth and families throughout South Central Kansas.
Over the years, BGCSCK has expanded its reach through strategic partnerships with school districts and community organizations, opening Club locations in Wichita, Derby, Maize and Emporia to meet local needs. While our locations have evolved over time, our commitment to providing high-quality youth development programs has remained constant.
Today, BGCSCK serves more than 1,000 youth annually through before- and after-school, summer, and teen programs that provide safe, supportive, and engaging environments where young people can learn, grow, and thrive.
Our trained youth development professionals provide guidance, encouragement, and supervision through enriching experiences that help young people build the skills they need for success. Members participate in homework assistance and academic support, arts, literacy, health and wellness, character and leadership development, STEM, career exploration, and sports and recreation.
Every program is designed to help young people develop a sense of competence, confidence, connection, character, and caring while preparing them for lifelong success.
Above all, Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas is a place where great futures start.
